Bamboo fabric care

Bamboo fabric care is easy. Most garments require little to minimal special care. We recommend cold / warm gentle machine or hand washing with a detergent free from optical brighteners. Most garments and home textiles we stock have been pre-shrunk and will maintain their shape.

Most garments are suitable to be tumble dried others it is advisable to line dry in the shade or lie flat to dry. It is best to read care instructions on individual garments or linen.

Ironing  on a low setting is advised but we have found that by simply wearing the clothing there is no need to iron at all.

Some products we carry, such as the bamboo body knit wear range will require extra care. Due to it’s delicate nature it is advised that you follow the instructions carefully and treat it as you would a delicate wool or cashmere article, avoiding rough surfaces and situations where you may catch and snag the fibres. Our children bamboo ankle socks also need a mentioning here as we have found the roughness of Velcro fastening shoes will cause threads to pull if rubbed against the Velcro.

Using bleaching products is also discouraged for several reasons.

  1. Bleach is one of the most powerful bacteria killers known, it doesn’t discriminate between good and bad bacteria. Given that bamboo fabric contains Kun a natural micro-organism that kills bad bacteria, bleach will kill it too.
  2. Bleach isn’t so great in our water way either.
  3. Bleach can also destroy the natural oils within the fibres, which helps to maintains it’s softness and strength.
